Getting started
- Cast mode: hold the phone on its side like a rod grip — top edge toward the rod tip, screen facing sideways, thumb up your dominant side. Make slow casting strokes and stop crisply at 10 and 2 o'clock.
- Mend mode: hold the phone flat, screen up, gripped on your dominant side. Track the drifting fly and flick a mend while it's in the 12-to-2 o'clock window.
- Dry Fly mode: make full, crisp false casts to dry the fly — the bead shrinks and chimes when it's dry.
Frequently asked questions
Which iPhones are supported?
Driftline runs on iPhone with iOS 16 or later. It uses the built-in motion sensors and Taptic Engine, so it must run on a real iPhone (not the Simulator).
I don't hear any sound.
Make sure your media volume is up (use the side volume buttons while the app is open), and that no Bluetooth headphones or speaker are connected and idle. Sound and haptics can each be toggled in Settings within the app.
10 and 2 (or upstream/downstream) feel reversed.
Open Settings in the app and switch the Casting hand (right/left), or toggle Reverse direction. Grip styles vary, and these adjust the app to yours.
The motion feels too sensitive or not sensitive enough.
Tell us how it feels and on which iPhone — we tune the thresholds with real-world feedback, and the app is meant to keep improving with updates.
Do you collect my data?
No. Driftline collects nothing — everything stays on your device. See our Privacy Policy.
Can I get a branded version for my shop, club, or brand?
Yes — email Shaun to talk about a custom build.
